Effective date: 19 October 2026 Last updated: 25 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Fonz Group Ltd for using SafeNav
(“we”, “us”, the “app”). We have tried to write them in plain English. Where the
wording is more precise, it is because the detail matters. Please read the safety
information first.
Operated by Fonz Group Ltd, Broxhead House, 60 Barbados Road, Bordon, Hants, England, GU35 0FX.
Contact: [email protected].
Important safety information
SafeNav is not an emergency service. The SOS button alerts
the people in your circles. It does not contact the police, an ambulance or
any other emergency service. In an emergency, call 999 or
112 in the UK, or 10111 (police) or
112 from a mobile in South Africa.
SafeNav cannot tell you whether a route, area or zone is safe.
We have no information about crime or danger. No-go zones, avoid zones and
No-go roads are only what you and your circles draw. A route that goes round
them is a route that goes round them — nothing more. “Safe zones” and
“Get to safety” are names for places you have chosen, not our judgement that
those places are safe.
Anything SafeNav shows or sends can be wrong, late or missing.
That includes routes, maps, locations, arrival times, zone alerts, SOS alerts,
Watch my trip alerts and every other notification. GPS can be inaccurate.
Phones run out of battery, lose signal, and stop apps running in the
background. Our servers, and the services we rely on, can fail.
Arrival times are estimates. Where live traffic information
is not available, times assume clear roads, and the app says so.
Watch my trip can only tell whether your phone answered in time,
not whether you are actually all right.
Never rely on SafeNav as your only way of staying safe.
Follow road signs and the law, keep your attention on the road, and do not
handle your phone while driving.
2. Who we are and what SafeNav does
SafeNav is run by Fonz Group Ltd, a company registered in
England and Wales (company number 16477015),
whose registered office is Broxhead House, 60 Barbados Road, Bordon, Hants, England,
GU35 0FX.
SafeNav is a navigation and location-sharing app for Android phones. It lets
you:
draw No-go zones and mark No-go roads,
which routes are planned to go round. The app tells you if a route still
crosses one, or if going round it is only approximate;
draw avoid zones, which routes go round only when that adds
a few minutes at most — otherwise the route goes straight through, without a
warning;
share your live location, routes and destinations with a
circle of family or friends, and be told when circle members
arrive at or leave places you have marked (“safe zones”);
send an SOS alert with your location to everyone in your
circles;
use Watch my trip, which alerts the people you choose if you
have not confirmed you are OK by the time you expected to arrive;
save places, share routes, and ask an in-app help assistant how the app
works.
3. These terms, and changes to them
By creating an account or using SafeNav, you agree to these terms. If you do
not agree, please do not use SafeNav.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your
personal information. Our Refund Policy is part of these
terms. When you buy a subscription, Google Play’s own terms also apply to the
purchase.
We may change these terms — for example, when we change the app, when the
law changes, or to make them clearer. When a change is significant, we will
tell you before it takes effect, in the app or by email.
If a change would leave paying subscribers worse off — for example, by
taking something away from what their plan includes — we will give at least
30 days’ notice. You can cancel before the change takes effect,
and if you are part-way through a paid period you can ask us to refund the
unused part of it.
Small changes that do not affect your rights, such as fixing wording, take
effect when we publish them. The date at the top of this page shows when these
terms last changed.
If you keep using SafeNav after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
4. Who can use SafeNav
You must be 18 or older. SafeNav is not for anyone under 18,
and we may close an account if we learn it belongs to someone who is.
We offer SafeNav in the United Kingdom and
South Africa. See section 14 for
where routing works.
SafeNav is for your own private, non-commercial use, unless we agree
otherwise in writing.
5. Your account
You can sign in with an email address and password, or with your Google
account.
An account is for one person. Do not share it, and do not
sign in as anyone else.
Your username and profile picture are shown to the people in your
circles.
Keep your phone and your sign-in secure. Anyone who can open SafeNav on your
unlocked phone can see your circles’ locations and send an SOS in your name. Use
a screen lock.
If you think someone else has used your account, tell us straight away at
[email protected].
You are responsible for what happens under your account, unless it happens
because we failed to keep it secure.
6. Location sharing and consent
Location sharing only works well, and is only fair, when everyone involved has
chosen it. So:
Share only your own location, from your own phone. A phone
only shares its location when the person using it switches sharing on, and it
shows a notification the whole time sharing is running.
Invite only people who want to join. Everyone joins a circle
themselves, on their own phone, with an invite code.
You must not use SafeNav to track, monitor or locate anyone without
their knowledge and consent. That includes installing SafeNav on
someone else’s phone, signing in to it for them, switching on sharing without
them knowing, hiding or interfering with the sharing notification, and using
someone’s location to follow, control, frighten or harass them — including a
partner or former partner. Covert tracking, stalking and controlling behaviour
can be criminal offences in both the UK and South Africa.
Anyone can stop sharing at any time in Settings → Circle Management →
Share my location, or leave a circle. Do not pressure anyone to keep
sharing.
If you think someone is using SafeNav to track you without your
consent, switch sharing off, leave the circle, check which apps are on
your phone, and tell us at
[email protected]. If you are in
danger, call the police.
We may suspend or close an account straight away if we reasonably believe it
is being used to track someone without their consent.
7. Acceptable use
When you use SafeNav, you must not:
break the law, or help anyone else to;
harass, threaten, stalk or intimidate anyone;
use zones, zone names, place labels, circle names, usernames, profile
pictures or zone-share codes to defame, target or stir up hostility towards
people, businesses or communities — for example, by labelling an area by the
race, religion or nationality of the people who live there, or by naming a
private person or their home;
upload a profile picture that is unlawful, sexual, violent, hateful, or that
you do not have the right to use;
send an SOS or other alert as a joke, or to alarm or mislead people;
scrape, harvest or bulk-copy data from SafeNav, including map data, routes
or other people’s information, by automated or other means;
copy, modify, decompile or reverse engineer the app, except where the law
allows you to;
interfere with or disrupt SafeNav, test or get round its security, limits or
payments, access accounts or data that are not yours, overload our servers, or
use a modified version of the app to reach our services;
misuse the help assistant — for example, trying to make it produce harmful
content, using it for things unrelated to SafeNav, or getting round its usage
limits;
sell, rent, sublicense or otherwise use SafeNav to provide a commercial
service to others, unless we have agreed in writing.
8. Your content
“Your content” means what you put into SafeNav: zones and their names, No-go
roads, saved places and their labels, circle names, your username and profile
picture, routes you share, feedback, and questions you ask the help
assistant.
You keep ownership of your content. You give us permission
— a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence — to store, copy, process and
display it only as needed to run SafeNav for you and for the people you share
with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except
for the copies described below and anything the law requires us to keep.
Who can see what: zones and safe zones you add to a circle
are visible to every member of that circle, and can be changed by you or the
circle’s owner. Your username and profile picture are visible to your circle
members. Zones you share by code can be added by anyone who has the code.
When someone adds zones from your share code, or receives a route you share,
they get their own copy. Deleting your original, or your account, does not
remove their copy. Revoking a code stops new people adding it.
You confirm that you have the right to share your content and that it does
not break these terms.
We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely, without
paying you.
9. The help assistant
The in-app help assistant is powered by Claude, an AI model
made by Anthropic. Its answers are generated automatically and
can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check what it says
against the app itself.
It is not professional, legal, medical or emergency advice. In an emergency,
call the emergency services.
Only the text of your help conversation is sent to Anthropic — see the
Privacy Policy. Please do not type personal details
into it.
There is a daily limit on questions. We may change the limit, or change or
withdraw the assistant.
10. Other services and map data
SafeNav relies on other companies’ services and data, including:
Google Play — distributing the app and taking payment for
subscriptions;
Google Firebase — delivering push notifications and crash
reports;
Mapbox — displaying the map and searching for places;
OpenStreetMap — the road data our own routing server uses,
and place and road search;
TomTom — traffic information, where it is available;
Anthropic — the help assistant;
Supabase — hosting our database and sign-in;
RevenueCat — keeping track of subscriptions bought through
Google Play.
Map and road data comes from people and organisations around the world, and
can be incomplete or out of date — roads change, and closures may not show. We
choose our providers carefully, but we cannot guarantee their data or that their
services will always be available. Where these providers have their own terms for
their part of the service, those terms may also apply to you.
The free plan may show a small banner advert, provided by Google AdMob.
Adverts are non-personalised: they are not chosen using a
profile of your interests or what you have done in other apps.
We never give the advertising network your precise location, or anything
about your circles, trips, routes or zones. Like any app showing adverts,
Google receives your device’s internet address and advertising ID, and may
work out an approximate location from the internet address, such as your town
or city. The Privacy Policy explains this, and your
choices about it.
We do not show adverts while you are navigating.
Any paid plan removes adverts.
An advert is not a recommendation by us. Advertisers are responsible for
their own products.
12. Subscriptions and billing
What is free
These are free, and are not part of any paid plan: No-go zones and No-go roads
(no limit), their warnings, SOS, basic Watch my trip (one watcher), one circle you
own with up to three people including you, joining any number of other people’s
circles, and navigation.
The paid plans
There are three packs:
Circles — currently, own up to 6 circles, with up to 13
people in each one you own.
Watch my trip — currently, up to 5 watchers per trip, plus
extra Watch my trip features as we release them.
Avoidance — scheduled zones, and creating avoid zones or
changing No-go zones into avoid zones.
You can subscribe to Any 1 pack (one of the three, which you
choose) or Everything (all three), monthly or annually. Both
remove adverts. The app shows what each plan includes, and its price, before you
buy.
With Any 1 pack, you can change which pack it covers once in each
monthly period of your subscription, including on an annual plan. The
app shows what changing means for what you already have before you confirm.
If your Any 1 pack subscription starts without a pack chosen (for example,
because you bought it on another device), you get all three packs for up to
72 hours while you choose. After that we set it to the pack you had picked, or
Circles if you had not, and your first change after that does not use up your
monthly change.
Paying
Subscriptions are bought through Google Play. Google takes
the payment from your Google Play payment method. We never see your card
details.
The price you pay, including any VAT, is the one Google Play shows before
you confirm.
Automatic renewal
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each
monthly or annual period, and Google Play charges the price then in force, until
you cancel.
Cancelling
Cancel in Google Play: open the Play Store app, tap your
profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions →
SafeNav → Cancel subscription. Or go to
play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep your paid features until the end
of the period you have paid for.
Uninstalling SafeNav, or deleting your SafeNav account, does not
cancel your subscription. Cancel it in Google Play as well.
Cancelling does not refund the current period by itself. See the
Refund Policy.
If you live in South Africa and are on an annual plan, you
may also cancel at any time by giving us 20 business days’ notice
by email to [email protected]. We
will refund the part of the year you have paid for that falls after your
cancellation takes effect. We make no cancellation charge. Cancel in Google
Play as well, so the plan does not renew. This is in addition to the 14-day
refund in section 13, not instead of it.
Free trial
When offered, the monthly Everything plan starts with a
7-day free trial. Google Play decides who is eligible —
usually one trial per Google account.
If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged. If you do not,
Google Play takes the first monthly payment when the trial ends, and the
subscription then renews monthly.
Price changes
We may change our prices. A new price never applies to a period you have
already paid for. If we raise the price of your subscription, you will be told at
least 30 days before it applies to you, by Google Play and following Google
Play’s rules. In some cases Google Play will ask you to accept the new price, and
the subscription will end if you do not. You can always cancel before a new price
applies.
Changing plans and payment problems
Upgrades and downgrades between plans go through Google Play. The app tells
you, before you confirm, when the change takes effect and what it will
cost.
If a renewal payment fails, Google Play may retry it, and you keep your paid
features while it does.
When a subscription ends
After the period you have paid for ends, we may keep paid features switched on
for a short time (currently up to 30 days) before your account moves to the free
plan. This is a courtesy, not something you pay for, and we may change it. It does
not apply to a refund, which ends paid access immediately — see
section 13.
On the free plan, nothing you have made is deleted, and nobody is
removed from a circle. What changes:
Pack
What stays
What stops
Circles
Every circle you own, with everyone in it.
You cannot create another circle if you already own as many as your plan
allows (one on the free plan). A circle you own that is at or over your
plan’s people limit (three on the free plan) will not accept anyone new until
enough people leave.
Watch my trip
A trip already set up or being watched keeps all its watchers until it
ends.
New trips can have one watcher.
Avoidance
Your avoid zones stay, and keep working as avoid zones. Scheduled zones
stay, but are switched on all the time instead of following their schedule;
the schedule is kept and works again if you subscribe again.
You cannot create new avoid zones, change a No-go zone into an avoid zone,
or set or change a schedule. Changing a zone back to a No-go zone, and
removing a schedule, are always free.
Adverts may return once your account is on the free plan.
Complimentary packs
Some accounts hold packs we have given free — for example, to early testers.
These are not subscriptions, are not managed through Google Play, and we honour
them as described when they were given.
13. Refunds
In short: within 48 hours of a payment you can usually ask Google Play directly.
Beyond that, and on top of your legal rights, we will refund any first payment or
renewal if you email us within 14 days of being charged — no
questions asked. The Refund Policy has the details, and how
to ask.
A refund ends your paid access immediately — not at the end of
the period you already paid for, and without the courtesy period described in
section 12 for an ordinary lapse. This is different from cancelling, which keeps
your paid features until the period you have paid for ends. See
what happens after a refund for what stays and what
stops.
14. Availability and changes to SafeNav
We work to keep SafeNav running, but we cannot promise it will always be
available, uninterrupted or free of errors. It may be unavailable during
maintenance or updates, or when a service we rely on fails.
Where routing works. Routes can only be calculated where we
have built routing data. At the moment that is South Africa; Great Britain
(England, Scotland and Wales — not Northern Ireland); and the US states of
California, Nevada and Arizona. Elsewhere the map works, but routes cannot be
calculated. Offline maps show the map without signal; routing still needs a
connection.
You may need to install updates to keep using SafeNav, and older versions
may stop working. Test versions released before general release may be less
reliable.
We may change, add or remove features. If we remove or significantly reduce
something a paid plan includes, we will give you reasonable notice — at least
30 days where we can. You can then cancel and ask us to refund the unused part
of your current paid period.
If we close SafeNav altogether, we will give at least 30 days’ notice where
we can, and refund the unused part of any paid period.
15. Ending your use of SafeNav
You
You can stop using SafeNav at any time.
You can delete your account in the app: Settings → Account Settings
→ Delete account. This is immediate and cannot be undone. It deletes
your account and your data as described in the
Privacy Policy.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Google Play subscription. Cancel it
in Google Play first (see section 12).
Us
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break
these terms, if you use SafeNav to track someone without their consent, if
your use puts other people at risk, or if the law requires us to.
We will tell you why, and give you notice where it is reasonable to do so —
but not where that could put someone at risk, harm an investigation, or break
the law.
If we close a paid account for any reason other than your breaking these
terms, we will refund the unused part of your current paid period.
Afterwards
What happens to your data is set out in the Privacy
Policy. Copies others hold of zones or routes you shared stay with them (see
section 8). Sections of these terms that are meant to
continue after your account ends — including those on liability and disputes —
continue to apply.
16. Intellectual property
The SafeNav app, name, logo, design, software and written guide belong to
Fonz Group Ltd or the people who license them to us.
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install
and use SafeNav on Android devices you own or control, for your own private use,
under these terms. We can end that licence if we close your account under
section 15.
Parts of SafeNav are open-source software, used under their own
licences.
Map data and map design belong to their owners (see
section 10).
Please do not use our name or logo without our permission.
17. Your legal rights
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law as a consumer.
In the UK, under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, digital
content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, and
services must be provided with reasonable care and skill. If they are not, you
may be entitled to a repair, a replacement, the service performed again, or
some or all of your money back. If digital content we supply damages your
device or other digital content because we did not use reasonable care and
skill, we will repair the damage or compensate you. Citizens Advice can tell
you more.
In South Africa, you have rights under the Consumer
Protection Act 2008 — including to services of the quality you are entitled to
expect — and under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 2002,
where they apply.
Apart from those rights, and to the extent the law allows, SafeNav is provided
as it is. We do not promise that it will meet every need, or that maps, routes,
arrival times, traffic information, zone boundaries, search results or alerts will
be accurate, complete or on time — see the safety
information.
18. Our liability to you
What we never limit
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for:
death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or that of our employees,
agents or subcontractors;
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
in South Africa, loss caused by our gross negligence;
anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude, including
your statutory rights as a consumer.
If you are a consumer
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable
result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.
Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if we both knew it
might happen when you started using SafeNav. We are not responsible for loss
that was not foreseeable.
SafeNav is for domestic and private use. If you use it for any business
purpose, we are not liable to you for loss of profit, loss of business,
business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
Events outside our control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our
reasonable control — for example, failures of mobile networks, GPS, your phone’s
operating system or battery, or services run by others. If one affects SafeNav,
we will do what we reasonably can to limit the effect.
The overall limit
Subject to “What we never limit” above, our total liability to you for all
claims arising out of or in connection with SafeNav or these terms is limited to
the greater of:
the total you paid for SafeNav in the 12 months before the claim arose;
and
£100 (or its equivalent in South African rand).
If you are a business user
If you use SafeNav in the course of a business, then, to the extent the law
allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of
profit, revenue, business, goodwill or data, and all terms implied by law are
excluded.
19. Business users
This section does not apply to consumers. If you use SafeNav in the course of a
business and someone else makes a claim against us because of your breach of these
terms or your unlawful use of SafeNav, you will pay our reasonable losses and costs
arising from that claim. We will tell you promptly about the claim and let you
take part in how it is handled.
20. Complaints and disputes
If something is wrong, please email
[email protected] first, with as
much detail as you can. We will reply within 30 days, and
usually much sooner.
If we cannot resolve your complaint, we will tell you in writing, and say
whether we are willing to use an alternative dispute resolution service.
UK consumers can get advice from Citizens Advice and can
take a claim to court, including the small claims track. If you live in
Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can bring a claim there.
South African consumers can approach the National Consumer
Commission, the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud, a provincial consumer
protection authority, or the courts.
Questions about a Google Play payment can also be raised with Google
Play.
Nothing in these terms stops you from going to court or to a consumer body,
and nothing requires you to use arbitration.
Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of
England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you also
keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live — in the
UK, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015; in South Africa, including the
Consumer Protection Act 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions
Act 2002, where they apply — and you can bring a claim in the courts of that
country.
21. General
Whole agreement. These terms, the
Privacy Policy, the Refund Policy
and what the app shows you when you buy a subscription are the whole agreement
between you and us about SafeNav. This does not affect anything we told you
before you bought that the law treats as part of our agreement.
If part of these terms is invalid, the rest still
applies.
If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still
enforce it later.
Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under
these terms to another organisation, for example if SafeNav is sold. We will
tell you, and make sure the transfer does not reduce your rights. If you are
unhappy, you can cancel and we will refund the unused part of any paid period.
You may not transfer your account or these terms to anyone else.
Nobody else has rights under these terms. Under the
Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999, no one other than you and us can
enforce them.
Notices. We will contact you in the app or at the email
address on your account. You can contact us at
[email protected].
